Fisher & Paykel Does Things Its Own Way
The DishDrawer is the clearest example: two independent drawers, each with its own pump, motor and seal, in place of a single tub. It is an excellent design and a poor candidate for improvisation — the lid seal alone has a specific fitting procedure, and getting it wrong produces exactly the leak you called about.
Most of the DishDrawer leaks we attend are second-hand repairs where that procedure was skipped. Fisher and Paykel repair here also covers ActiveSmart refrigeration, CoolDrawer units, ranges and SmartDrive laundry.

The Calls We Take Most on Fisher & Paykel
| What you notice | Where we look first |
|---|---|
| DishDrawer leaking from the front | Lid seal or drawer-front gasket — not the tub |
| One drawer dead, the other fine | That drawer’s own motor, pump or harness |
| ActiveSmart fault code | Fan, sensor or damper; the sealed system is a distant last |
| CoolDrawer not holding its selected mode | Mode sensor and the damper that serves it |
| Range oven not holding temperature | Thermostat probe, element, then the door seal |
| Washer stopping on an unbalanced load | Suspension and the out-of-balance sensor |

What Fails, and Why It Fails Here
Seals are the whole DishDrawer story
They are wear items and they need replacing to procedure. Fitted correctly the drawer is watertight for years; fitted approximately it weeps within weeks. This single point accounts for more DishDrawer call-backs than every other fault combined.
Two drawers, two machines
Because the drawers are independent, a failure in one does not require touching the other. That usually makes the repair cheaper than owners expect — and it is worth knowing before someone quotes you for replacing the whole unit.
Fisher & Paykel Parts, Availability and Lead Times
Parts arrive through the North American channel, typically one to three business days for anything from the last decade. Older integrated refrigeration is where availability gets thin, and we check that at the diagnosis.
Why Owners Book Us for Fisher & Paykel
- DishDrawer seals fitted to procedure — the difference between a repair and a call-back.
- One drawer repaired without touching the other, which keeps the cost down.
- ActiveSmart codes read against the manual, not interpreted.
- Written warranty on parts and labour.
Questions We Are Asked Before Booking
Are DishDrawer dishwashers reliable?
Yes, with one caveat: the seals are wear items and must be replaced properly. Most of the leak calls we attend are earlier repairs where the fitting procedure was skipped.
Can you repair just one drawer?
Almost always. The two drawers are separate machines sharing a cabinet, so a failure in one does not require work on the other.
How is parts availability locally?
Good for anything from the last decade, typically one to three business days. Older integrated refrigeration is the exception and we check before quoting.
What does an ActiveSmart fault code actually mean?
The control system reports honestly: fan, sensor and damper faults account for most codes. We read them against the service manual rather than guessing from the number.
